What is AWANA

The AWANA name is an acrostic that comes from 2 Timothy 2:15, Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed. The purpose of AWANA is to reach boys and girls with the gospel of Christ and to train them to serve Him. The program is centered around a weekly club night consisting of three distinct parts - game time, handbook time, & large group time.
AWANA happens each Wednesday  5:45–7:30pm September through May.

From the Commander:

Welcome to AWANA.  We are thrilled you have chosen to have your child involved in such a fun and exciting program!  Our emphasis on Wednesday evenings is sharing with each one how they can have a growing relationship with our precious Creator, the Lord Jesus Christ.  We want each child to know for certain that they can go to heaven and that heaven is a free gift!  WOW!  Now that’s a great reason for having AWANA!  We look forward to personally meeting each child and parent that comes through our doors, and are praying that this will be a wonderful learning and growing experience for each one!

Club Year 2023-2024

This is going to be an amazing year for our AWANA program. We have an excellent group of leaders that are passionate about leading and guiding clubbers towards a growing relationship with Jesus Christ. Below is a list of "Do's" and "Dont's", which is a guide by which our program operates.

Club Expectations:

Please do…
  • show respect for God, the leaders, other clubbers, and our church property
  • listen quietly while someone else is speaking
  • obey the “five count”
  • wear sneakers every week for game time
  • come with a smile and be ready for fun!!
Please don’t…
  • don’t wear shoes other than sneakers
  • don’t run in the building, except for game time in the gym
  • don’t chew gum at AWANA
  • don’t be rough-housing (What is fun for one may not be for another!)

What to Expect

Each night the kids will check in upon arrival before our opening ceremony begins at 5:45 pm. Each child will gather in their specific club in our chapel. Then, as an entire club we will recite all of the pledges (American Flag, AWANA Flag). Following the pledges the clubs will be dismissed each to their respective rotation areas between the three parts of the night:

Game Time

High energy mixed with controlled chaos is the best description for game time. It is packed with exciting activities that include both team and individual competition. Our passionate recreation crew seek to engage kids through fun and excitement.

Handbook Time

A time for discipleship, individual prayer and requests shared, and Scripture memory. During this time, kids are challenged to build the spiritual discipline of memorization. The goal is to memorize Scripture from the Bible study that will help them apply it.

Large Group Time

Deepening our faith through the study of Gods Word is the focus of this time. Each club takes an age appropriate approach with that week's memory verse as the focal point. Groups will grow together by discussing the passage and celebrating the week to week accomplishments of the individuals and the team.

Special Nights:

Throughout the year there will be specific nights that have fun themes. Some will encourage the kids to dress up. Others are simply themed for the kids to enjoy. Also there are two big celebrations that help celebrate the end of the year (Grand Prix and Awards Night).
